Senior Director, Platform Software Engineering - Remote

Role overview

A senior leadership role within a technology organization, accountable for setting the vision, strategy, and execution direction of platform engineering in a financial services context. The position oversees the design, reliability, and evolution of the shared platforms and infrastructure that product and application teams build on. It is a remote-friendly, hybrid position based out of the Allen, TX area.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the long-term technical strategy for the engineering platform that supports multiple product lines
• Lead and develop multiple engineering managers and senior engineers across platform domains
• Partner with architecture, product, security, and infrastructure leaders to align platform capabilities with business priorities
• Own platform reliability, scalability, performance, and developer experience across services, tooling, and shared infrastructure
• Guide investment decisions on build-versus-buy, modernization, and cloud adoption for the platform layer
• Represent platform engineering in cross-functional planning, budgeting, and executive-level reviews

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience leading large platform or infrastructure engineering organizations at the director or senior director level
• Track record of building shared platforms consumed by multiple product or application teams
• Strong background in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and modern software development practices
• Experience managing managers and operating within matrixed technology organizations
• Ability to translate business and regulatory needs into platform and engineering requirements
• Excellent communication skills for partnering with engineering, product, and executive stakeholders
