Senior Electrical Project Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

A long-established building services contractor with over four decades of delivery behind it is looking for a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to join its Operations team in Frankfurt am Main.

The business is a full mechanical and electrical solutions provider, working from design stage through installation and into ongoing maintenance. Its project portfolio spans data centres, pharmaceutical, industrial and logistics, food, healthcare, mining, commercial, hotel and leisure, high-end residential, public sector and energy, with a strong record of delivering large-scale projects across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe.

This is a hands‑on, project‑facing engineering role. You will sit at the centre of the technical delivery of a live project – owning the technical submittal process, the RFI schedule, drawing control and the handover documentation, and working alongside the Contracts Manager, Project Manager, Design team and Quantity Surveyor. It suits an electrical building services engineer who wants genuine ownership of the technical detail on a major European project rather than a narrow, single‑task remit.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop a full working knowledge of the project details, design and specifications
• Collate and manage technical submittals as directed by the Contracts / Project Manager
• Work with the Contracts Manager, Project Manager, Design team and QS to update the progress report
• Raise RFIs and keep the RFI schedule up to date
• Follow up on orders for long‑lead plant items
• Ensure the latest drawing revisions are the ones being worked to on site
• Redline drawings with as‑built information and issue back to design
• Attend site meetings
• Support the QS on variations, providing back‑up for changes and procurement
• Ensure compliance with all Building Regulations, Standards and Health & Safety Regulations
• Comply with all EHSQ policies and procedures
• Compile the O&M manuals and support the commissioning and handover process
• Maintain the company Document Management System

REQUIREMENTS – ESSENTIAL

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a similar discipline
• Comprehensive understanding of tendering processes
• Working knowledge of MS Project and the MS Office suite
• Demonstrable experience in an electrical / building services project engineering environment
• Willingness to learn and adapt across different elements of a project

REQUIREMENTS – DESIRABLE

• Experience of AutoCAD
• Experience of large‑scale M&E projects in a mainland European setting
• Familiarity with formal document management systems and structured submittal / RFI processes
• German language ability alongside English

EXPERIENCE

We are looking for an electrical building services professional with project engineering experience gained with an M&E or electrical contractor – someone used to the discipline of technical submittals, RFIs, drawing revision control, subcontractor compliance and O&M / handover documentation on large, complex projects.

Sector experience across data centres, pharmaceutical, industrial, logistics or other high‑specification environments is highly relevant. What matters most is that the electrical building services delivery experience is real: this is an electrical engineering role, not a generalist construction one.
