Senior Experimental AMO Physicist – Neutral Atom Quantum Computing

We are currently partnering with an innovative quantum computing company developing next‑generation neutral atom quantum processors. As part of their growing quantum hardware team, they are looking to hire a Senior Experimental AMO Physicist to lead the design, development, and optimisation of cutting‑edge neutral atom quantum computing systems.

This is a senior technical role offering the opportunity to shape the architecture of advanced quantum processing units while working alongside experts in quantum hardware, electronics, software, and quantum algorithms to develop scalable quantum computing technology.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, characterise, and optimise neutral atom quantum computing systems
• Develop and execute experimental measurement campaigns to evaluate quantum processor performance
• Investigate sources of noise, decoherence, and gate infidelity, developing strategies to improve system performance
• Analyse experimental data to guide hardware optimisation and system improvements
• Drive architectural decisions for quantum processing units based on experimental results and physical modelling

Key requirements

• PhD in Experimental Atomic, Molecular & Optical (AMO) Physics or a closely related discipline
• Proven expertise designing, building, and optimising neutral atom or atomic physics experiments
• Strong hands‑on experience in one or more of the following:
• Optical tweezer arrays
• Optical lattices
