Senior Expert - Automotive Product Development

• Lead and shape large-scale automotive product development initiatives, collaborating with senior client leadership
• Identify issues, formulate hypotheses, and design tailored solutions around full-vehicle architecture, efficiency, and cost optimization
• Drive transformational change initiatives and help clients build capabilities with measurable impact
• Mentor and develop consultants, sharing expertise across client engagements
• Collaborate with McKinsey’s global experts and with Operations and McKinsey Digital teams to deliver integrated solutions
• Contribute to shaping McKinsey’s approach to automotive product development and knowledge base
• Engage on high-impact projects across OEMs, suppliers, and startups, contributing to innovation and sustainability
• Base in a European office with a focus on the automotive sector

• Degree in engineering, automotive engineering, or related field (preferred)
• 10+ years in automotive product development, with senior leadership experience (e.g., Chief Engineer)
• Deep knowledge of full-vehicle architecture, systems engineering, and PLM
• Experience with EVs and CASE technologies
• Proven track record leading large-scale projects with cross-functional teams, budgets, and stakeholders
• Strong analytical and practical problem-solving abilities
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with client and team influence
• Fluency in English; additional European languages are a plus
