We are looking for an experienced financing professional to originate, structure and execute syndicated loan transactions across the European market, with a particular focus on corporate, acquisition and sponsor-backed financings .
The successful candidate will play an active role in developing the Bank's capabilities beyond participation and relationship lending towards proprietary deal origination, structuring and arranging of international syndicated financings .
The role requires a highly international mindset and offers the opportunity to work closely with European corporates, private equity sponsors, financial institutions, advisors and Bank of China teams across Europe and Asia.
Key Responsibilities
- Originate new syndicated lending opportunities with European corporates and private equity sponsors, leveraging existing and developing new relationships across the European financing market.
- Develop financing ideas and proactively identify opportunities arising from acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, refinancings, capital structure changes and other strategic corporate activity.
- Lead transactions across the full deal lifecycle , from initial client dialogue, pitching and mandate negotiation through credit analysis, pricing, term sheet development, structuring, documentation, syndication and closing.
- Structure and arrange bilateral, club and syndicated loan transactions, including corporate, acquisition and leveraged financings.
- Monitor market developments and analyze precedent and comparable transactions to support origination, pricing and structuring decisions.
- Prepare and present financing proposals and credit submissions to relevant business and credit committees.
- Lead the preparation, review and negotiation of key financing documentation , including term sheets, mandate letters, facility agreements, fee letters and information memoranda, in coordination with internal and external legal counsel.
- Assess credit quality, capital structures, leverage, debt capacity and key transaction risks while maintaining a commercial and client-oriented approach.
- Develop and maintain senior relationships with corporate clients, private equity sponsors, investment banks, debt advisors, banks and other financing market participants .
- Coordinate syndication processes and engagement with prospective lenders and other financing partners.
- Collaborate closely across Coverage, Credit Risk, Loan Syndicate/Sales, Legal, Compliance and other product and support functions to ensure efficient transaction execution.
- Coordinate cross-border transactions with Bank of China branches and teams across Europe, Asia and other international markets.
- Maintain an active origination pipeline and provide senior management with visibility on prospective transactions, market developments and business opportunities.
- Contribute actively to building the Frankfurt Branch's Origination & Arranging platform, including origination strategy, market positioning, internal processes and development of junior team members.
Candidate Profile
- Approximately 7–12 years of relevant experience in loan origination, leveraged finance, acquisition finance, syndicated finance or corporate/investment banking at an international financial institution.
- Strong and recent track record of personally originating, structuring and/or arranging syndicated loan transactions in the European market.
- Hands-on experience across the full transaction lifecycle, including pitching, credit underwriting, structuring, documentation, syndication and closing.
- Relevant experience with private equity sponsors and sponsor-backed transactions , ideally including leveraged buyouts, acquisition financings and refinancings.
- An established network of relationships with European corporates, private equity sponsors, investment banks, debt advisors and/or other financing market participants is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of the European syndicated and leveraged loan markets , prevailing market terms and loan documentation.
- Strong credit, financial analysis and structuring capabilities combined with sound commercial judgement.
- Significant experience working in an international and cross-cultural environment , ideally involving transactions and stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.
- Ability to operate effectively within a global banking organization and coordinate across different jurisdictions, cultures and internal decision-making structures.
- Proven ability to generate financing ideas and develop new business rather than focusing primarily on existing relationship management, portfolio management or participation in externally originated transactions.
- Proactive, commercially minded and client-focused, with the ability to take ownership of transactions and operate with a high degree of independence.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and senior stakeholder-management skills.
- Fluent English required; German is highly desirable. Chinese or other European/Asian language capabilities are an advantage.
- University degree in finance, economics, business administration or a related discipline.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate combines origination capabilities, strong credit and structuring expertise, private equity / sponsor market exposure and an established European financing network .
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate specific recent transactions that they have personally sourced, structured and/or arranged , as well as established relationships with corporates, sponsors, advisors and financing partners that can support the generation of new business.
The successful candidate should have a genuinely international profile , be comfortable working across cultures and jurisdictions, and be able to connect Bank of China's global network with European corporate and private equity financing opportunities.
This is not intended to be a purely relationship-management, portfolio-management or execution position. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute actively to building Bank of China Frankfurt's origination franchise, winning mandates and generating new financing opportunities .
