The department “Global Controlling & Accounting Governance” is part of the Finance DHL eCommerce (eCom) business unit and is responsible for ensuring compliance with internal and external financial and non‑financial regulations within the eCom division. In addition, it defines policies and process standards within eCom for Accounting, ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance), IC​S (Internal Control System), and Risk Management.

General Specialist Global Accounting & Controlling (m/f/x)

Key Responsibilities

Responsibility for the design, management, and implementation of highly complex transformation projects within the controlling and accounting governance environment of the eCom division, with a particular focus on strategically relevant growth markets. In addition, active involvement in investment projects, including assuming PMO responsibility during post‑merger integration phases, managing collaboration with minority shareholdings in joint ventures, and further developing ESG reporting for the eCom division.

  • Transformation of the controlling function toward an active steering methodology, including the establishment of a Finance Business Partner approach
  • Building a comprehensive understanding of the business, its risks and opportunities, the market environment, pricing structures, and operating model, as well as their development
  • Steering external advisors and local finance teams in close coordination with the local CFO
  • Analysis and review of financial figures
  • Review and analysis of a Financial Fact Book as well as local management accounts as a sound basis for management decision‑making
  • Preparation of business cases in the context of transformation projects
  • Independent preparation, analysis, and evaluation of business plans and steering models
  • Derivation and active advancement of strategic decisions in close coordination with all functions and the local senior management team (SMT)
  • Coordination of all internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all findings are appropriately reflected in the business plan
  • Management of the post‑merger integration of newly acquired companies as a divisional PMO
    • Central point of contact for the CFO and local functional contacts for all finance‑related matters
    • Tracking of post‑closing obligations
    • Ensuring the implementation of a financial reporting framework to meet the core reporting requirements of the DHL Group, including the definition of KPIs and system integration
    • Supporting country organizations in meeting internal group requirements for financial controlling and ensuring compliance with group standards (e.g. compliance, rebranding)
    • Continuous monitoring of financial key figures (e.g. integration costs)
    • Participation in company‑wide corporate post‑closing review meetings and board meetings
    • Management of cooperation with minority investments in joint ventures
      • Central point of contact for the CFO on all finance‑related matters
      • Ensuring compliance with agreed shareholder agreement conditions and adequate financing
      • Joint development and regular updating of the business plan
      • Ensuring, among other things through the preparation of P&L reports, volume reports, cost analyses, and cash flow analyses, compliance with internal group reporting requirements for minority investments
      • Acting as a business partner for strategic topics with potential impact on shareholder agreement clauses, in close coordination with the Legal department

Professional Requirements

  • University degree with a focus on finance or a comparable qualification
  • Many years of professional experience in finance with a focus on M&A and corporate integrations, preferably in an international environment and/or management consulting
  • Experience and proven competence in advising and managing global and cross‑functional projects
  • Experience in ESG is desirable
  • Very good English skills, knowledge of German is an advantage
