(Senior) IT Engineer / M 365 Platform Engineer (m/f/d)

In this role you design, implement and govern a modern Microsoft 365 platform as part of a global IT operations team. You balance user productivity with enterprise controls through governance policies and robust security, while enabling AI-driven enhancements and cross-team collaboration. You lead strategic projects, from migrations to data governance, shaping a secure, scalable modern workplace. This role combines hands-on engineering with strategic consulting to support international teams.

• Design, implement, and maintain core Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive) and define governance policies
• Manage and harden Entra ID (Azure AD) including Conditional Access, MFA, and Identity Governance; ensure Zero Trust security standards
• Implement and manage Microsoft Purview for DLP, eDiscovery, and sensitive information labeling to meet regulatory requirements
• Translate business requirements into technical architectures; coordinate with external service providers on global projects
• Act as Tier 2/3 escalation point; automate repetitive tasks and lifecycle management using PowerShell and Graph API
• Lead the technical assessment and implementation of Microsoft 365 Copilot and AI-driven features; prepare data layer for AI readiness and manage extensibility

• Several years of experience engineering Microsoft 365 environments in international enterprises or complex mid-market organizations
• Proven track record of migrations or large-scale tenant configurations
• Deep expertise in Teams, SharePoint and Exchange Online; strong command of Entra ID and Intune (Endpoint Manager)
• Practical experience with Microsoft Purview and Defender for Office 365
• Proficiency in PowerShell for environment-wide automation; understanding of Graph API
• Knowledge of prerequisites for Microsoft 365 Copilot and data governance
• Independent, structured, analytical mindset; proactive on platform health and security by design
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Professional working proficiency in English and German (B2)
