Senior IT Security Engineer – m/f/d

Responsibilities

• Responsibility for the operation, further development and quality assurance of central security systems (SIEM, EDR/XDR, IDS/IPS, Vulnerability Management)
• Analysis of security incidents and the development and optimization of detection and response concepts
• Contributing to the security roadmap and advancing the deployed security tools
• Defining and assessing security requirements for IT infrastructures (servers, network, virtualization, containers) in close coordination with the responsible teams
• Collaborating with IT engineering and operations to implement secure operational and architectural concepts
• Deriving minimum standards and hardening guidelines and advising IT teams on security‑relevant configurations and changes
• Technical support for audits, translating regulatory requirements into concrete measures and supporting risk analyses

Requirements

• Degree or vocational training in an IT‑related field or comparable practical experience
• Several years of experience in IT security, infrastructure or platform operations
• In‑depth knowledge of core infrastructure and security areas such as operating systems (Windows/Linux), network and communication security, and security monitoring & detection (SIEM, EDR/XDR, IDS/IPS)
• Experience with modern platforms and technologies (e.g., containers, virtualization) and with system and infrastructure hardening
• Ability to derive and implement technical security requirements, standards and hardening guidelines
• Knowledge of relevant security frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, BSI IT‑Grundschutz, PCI DSS)
• Experience in automation, scripting or integration of security solutions (e.g., APIs, SOAR) is an advantage
• Fluent German language skills, written and spoken (min. C1 level)
• Analytical and structured working style
• High degree of personal responsibility and strong communication and teamwork skills, including mentoring
• Willingness to take part in on‑call duty and to travel for work to a limited extent
• A criminal record certificate with no entries and a signed internal declaration that personal financial affairs are in order
