Senior / Lead HVDC Electrical Engineer - Technical Specialist / Project Leader

As a Senior/Lead HVDC Electrical Engineer at Arup, you drive design and delivery of HVDC/HVAC packages within an interdisciplinary energy and infrastructure team. You will shape solutions for transmission and distribution challenges, from concept through construction, with a focus on innovative, cost‑effective outcomes. You’ll work with clients, lead design efforts, and coordinate stakeholders across European projects in offshore wind, interconnectors, and related assets. • Contribute to and lead HVAC and/or HVDC package design across all design stages
• Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders and cross-disciplinary teams
• Present technical solutions to clients, contractors and authorities

• Qualification in Electrical Engineering / Electrical Power Systems
• Experience in power system consultancy for transmission/distribution utilities and HVDC developers
• Knowledge of European/international grid connection processes and Grid Codes
• Project and client management experience on project tasks
• Extensive HVDC technology knowledge and converter station layouts
• Hands-on HVDC project experience including interconnectors and onshore/offshore schemes
• Proficiency with power system analysis software (PowerFactory, PSS/E, IPSA, ETAP, PSCAD, EMTP-ATP, ERACS, SKM)
• Modelling language experience (DPL, Python)
• Experience in insulation coordination studies and protection settings, cable thermal ratings, transformer design, system losses, cost/benefit analysis, earthing with CDEGs
