Senior Linux Administrator / Linux System Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Linux Administrator / Linux System Engineer for a direct placement with Kolibri360 / Zeitfracht Medien .

This is much more than a traditional Linux Administrator position. The successful candidate will join a large and complex Linux environment and will have the opportunity to gradually take on technical leadership and coordination responsibilities within the Linux area . The existing server team consists of eight people plus a Team Lead, with the successful candidate expected to develop towards becoming the Linux technical lead.

The preferred location is Erfurt , with Stuttgart also possible.

The Linux environment

You will be responsible for a substantial Linux infrastructure consisting of approximately 173 servers , including:

• 4 Red Hat servers
• 4 SUSE servers
• Approximately 12 Ubuntu servers
• Infrastructure distributed across multiple locations, data centres and cloud environments

The environment includes technologies and services such as Apache, nginx, Tomcat, WildFly, Java and NFS .

Your responsibilities

You will help ensure the reliable operation of the company's Linux server and application environment, including:

• Administration, maintenance and optimisation of Linux systems
• Monitoring system performance and identifying bottlenecks
• Troubleshooting complex system and application issues
• Patch and update management
• Assessing and implementing security measures
• Risk assessment for production systems and applications
• Maintaining internal security and compliance standards
• Coordinating activities with application teams and external service providers
• Supporting and improving existing automation
• Developing new automation and standardisation concepts
• Creating and maintaining Ansible playbooks and roles
• Writing, adapting and analysing Bash scripts

Your technical profile

We are looking for someone with strong experience in complex Linux environments and excellent troubleshooting skills.

You should be confident working with:
