Senior Manager, Quality Engineering

Role overview

The Senior Manager of Quality Engineering leads the multidisciplinary test infrastructure and quality engineering organization behind a cloud-based IoT platform serving physical operations. The role sits at the intersection of engineering productivity, product quality, and customer trust, owning the strategy, platforms, and practices that prevent, detect, and resolve regressions across software, firmware, and hardware at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop an organization of engineering managers, software engineers, and quality engineers across test infrastructure, automation, and product validation.
• Define the multi-year vision, strategy, and roadmap for quality engineering and shared testing platforms.
• Build scalable, self-service test infrastructure including frameworks, environments, test data, device and service simulators, and CI/CD integrations.
• Establish measurable quality outcomes such as escaped-regression rates, automated coverage, test reliability, time to signal, defect-detection effectiveness, and release confidence.
• Drive a shift-left quality strategy that embeds quality into architecture, development, code review, and continuous delivery.
• Partner with product engineering teams to identify high-risk customer journeys, close critical coverage gaps, and prevent recurring classes of regressions.
• Reduce flaky tests, shorten feedback loops, and make failures easy to diagnose and act upon.

Requirements

• Proven track record leading engineering managers and senior engineers across quality, test infrastructure, or platform domains.
• Experience operating at scale across cloud, firmware, and/or hardware-enabled products.
• Strong software engineering background with depth in test automation frameworks, CI/CD, and developer workflows.
• Ability to set technical strategy and partner effectively with product and engineering leadership.
• History of building measurable quality programs that improve coverage and reduce escaped defects.
