Senior Network Engineer – Supporting Europe

Responsibilities

  • The Senior Network Engineer resolves larger and more complex LAN/WLAN/WAN issues.
  • Supports high‑level installation, configuration, documentation, management, and troubleshooting of network communications equipment.
  • Serves as regional point of contact for network issues.
  • Manages configuration and communication interconnection matters.
  • Addresses multi‑protocol routing/network management issues.
  • Provides written recommendations through tickets, written standards, or updates to existing standards.
  • Advises on LAN/WLAN/WAN design, deployment, implementation, and standardization to support the MHS mission.

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance.
  • DoD / -M compliance at IAM Level III or equivalent.
  • DoD Health Care Information Systems experience required.
  • Mastery‑level experience with normal networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, RSTP, VRRP, BIND, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, PPP, HDLC, V.35, RS‑449, Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, FDDI, ATM, and 802‑series communications standards.
  • Mastery‑level experience in routed, switched, and shared LAN environments using supported Microsoft OS, Windows Active Directory, UNIX, OpenVMS, routers, switches, terminal servers, local WAN, and long‑haul WAN connectivity.
  • Hands‑on experience with SolarWinds Orion, ARMIS, Ansible, MIB, MRTG‑type monitoring, diagnostic tools, network administration tools, OTDR, cable testers, network sniffers, and EIA/TIA cable standards.
  • Ability to establish and configure network firewalls, VPN devices, and IDSs.
  • Ability to lead network specialists and coordinate with Government staff, medical personnel, other contractors, NetMOD Network Standards Team, and internal/external organizations.

Proven ability to lead teams and coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure optimal network performance and compliance with DoD standards.
