Senior Optic Designer (f/m/x) @ Carl ZEISS Extended Reality (XRX)

In the role of a Senior Optic Designer you’ll focus on the optical design and simulation of complex optical systems for AR and VR glasses including individual vision correction. By designing, analyzing and optimizing the optical system in regards to scattered light, environmental influences, manufacturing sensitivity and tolerances etc. you’ll actively contribute to the product design and technology decision.

Responsibilities

• Design and simulate head mounted AR and VR systems including individual vision correction
• Analyzing and optimizing optical systems regarding virtual image and see‑through performance
• Identify, discuss and align on critical system specifications in close collaboration with external customers and internal functions to ensure manufacturability at target costs
• Design internal and evaluate external optical metrology‑systems for in‑house applications
• Contribute to and actively extend the IP portfolio of XRX

Qualifications

• Excellent university degree in physics, optics, mathematics or a related field; a PhD is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of reflective, diffractive and holographic system design and solid background in ophthalmics
• Several years of experience in the development of optical and/or optomechanical imaging systems
• Strong track record in optical design methods and tools (e.g. optical design software, CAD, FEM) and their integration into robust development
