Senior Optical Engineer

For a technologically demanding development project, I am currently looking for an Optical Engineer (m/f/d) .

Your Responsibilities:

Development and further enhancement of sophisticated optical systems and subsystems
Responsibility for optical components from the concept phase through to technical implementation
Selection, design, and integration of optical and photonic components
Collaboration across the interfaces between optics, mechanics, electronics, and software
Preparation of technical documentation, specifications, and design review materials
Support with qualification, validation, and verification testing of optical systems
Evaluation of technical solution approaches with consideration of performance, time, cost, and technical risks

Your Profile:

At least 5 years of experience in the development of sophisticated optical systems
Strong knowledge of optical design, optical materials, coatings, and testing methods
Experience independently developing optical components or subsystems
Good knowledge of photonic components and their integration into complex optical systems
Strong understanding of opto-mechanical interactions
Experience collaborating with related disciplines such as mechanical engineering, electronics, and software
Experience with technical documentation, specifications, and technical design reviews
Practical experience in the qualification, validation, and verification of optical systems
Structured, transparent, and proactive working style, with experience in multidisciplinary development environments
Strong hands-on experience in at least one of the following areas: optical modelling using Zemax or alignment of high-energy/high-power laser beams
Experience with high-power laser systems is desirable
Experience with ultra-short-pulse laser systems is desirable
Experience working with suppliers in the optics or photonics industry is desirable
