We are seeking a talented Power Electronics Engineer to join a specialist engineering team working at the forefront of energy conversion, grid technology and HVDC .

The role offers the chance to work on complex, high-power systems supporting the transformation of modern electrical infrastructure — from medium-voltage converters and grid inverters to high-power DC/DC conversion .

Your Responsibilities

You will play an important role across the development lifecycle, from initial technical concepts through to testing and system integration.

Key activities will include:

• Developing high-power converter systems for energy and grid applications
• Designing and optimising medium-voltage (MV) power conversion systems
• Working on grid-connected inverter architectures
• Developing and evaluating DC/DC converter topologies
• Applying IGBT and SiC semiconductor technologies to high-power applications
• Carrying out electrical, thermal and system-level simulations
• Developing and refining converter and inverter control strategies
• Supporting prototype builds, laboratory testing and system commissioning
• Analysing switching behaviour, efficiency, losses, thermal performance and reliability
• Supporting grid integration and compliance with relevant technical requirements
• Troubleshooting complex hardware and system-level issues
• Working alongside multidisciplinary teams covering controls, software, hardware, mechanical and systems engineering
• Contributing to design reviews, technical specifications and engineering documentation

Ideally, you will bring:

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Energy Systems or a related discipline
• Experience with one or more of the following: HVDC, MV converters, grid inverters or DC/DC converters
• Strong knowledge of converter and inverter topologies
• Practical experience with IGBT and/or SiC technologies
• Understanding of switching losses, thermal management, parasitics and EMI/EMC
• Experience with converter control and power-system interfaces
• Familiarity with PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice or comparable simulation tools
• Hands-on experience with laboratory testing, measurement and validation
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities
• Experience within the energy, utilities, industrial or grid technology sectors is advantageous
• Good professional English communication skills
