(Senior) Privacy & Data Protection Counsel (m/f/d)

J&T Express is a fast-growing global logistics company with a strong focus on e-commerce and last-mile delivery. With operations across Asia and rapid expansion in Europe, we are currently building our German organization and hiring key team members to support our growth.

As (Senior) Privacy & Data Protection Counsel (m/f/d), you will help establish and improve the company’s privacy framework across Germany and Europe. Working closely with the Head of Legal & Compliance and key business functions, you will advise on data protection matters, support strategic initiatives and ensure GDPR compliance throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve the company’s Privacy Management System in compliance with the GDPR, BDSG and other applicable data protection laws.
• Provide practical, solution-oriented advice to business functions on privacy matters and support new products, technologies, projects and operational processes.
• Draft and maintain privacy policies, notices and internal procedures, and support privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default initiatives.
• Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), maintain the Record of Processing Activities (RoPA), and review and negotiate Data Processing Agreements (DPAs).
• Advise on international data transfers, including Standard Contractual Clauses and Transfer Impact Assessments, as well as data retention requirements.
• Support the handling of data subject requests and personal data breaches.
• Conduct privacy audits and training, monitor regulatory developments, and support interactions with supervisory authorities.
• Collaborate with Operations, IT, Information Security, HR, external legal advisers and the Data Protection Officer.

Your Profile

• Fully qualified lawyer in Germany or Europe, or a law degree combined with relevant professional experience in data protection and privacy law.
• At least three years of relevant experience and strong knowledge of the GDPR, BDSG and other applicable European data protection laws.
• Experience with Data Processing Agreements, international data transfers and Data Protection Impact Assessments.
• Business-fluent German and English; professional certifications such as CIPP/E are an advantage.
• Experience in logistics, e-commerce, transportation or technology is a plus.
• Strong analytical and communication skills with an independent, pragmatic and business-oriented working style.
• Ability to take ownership and succeed in a fast-paced, international environment.
