Senior Project Manager Energy Permitting

Overview

In this role you drive the planning and approval of renewable energy and grid infrastructure in Germany. You work with authorities, developers, and multidisciplinary teams to navigate complex permitting landscapes and accelerate project delivery. You will contribute to regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and effective stakeholder engagement across the energy transition. Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Coordinate permitting activities for renewable energy and grid projects in Germany
  • Prepare and review permit documents, including technical studies and environmental assessments
  • Support approval processes under BauGB, BImSchG, EnWG and NABEG
  • Liaise with authorities, municipalities, environmental agencies, TSOs/DSOs, and stakeholders
  • Track permitting requirements and milestones to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Assist in risk identification and mitigation for permitting processes
  • Coordinate inputs from multidisciplinary teams (engineering, environmental, geotechnical, grid connection)
  • Support tender prep, feasibility assessments, and early-stage development activities
  • Prepare internal/external reporting and contribute to governance processes
  • Maintain documentation of permitting obligations and project requirements
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • 7-10 years of professional experience in project coordination, permitting or development of renewable energy or energy infrastructure projects
  • Experience supporting permitting for renewable energy, grid infrastructure, substations, cables or similar projects
  • Familiarity with German regulatory frameworks such as BImSchG, BauGB, EnWG or NABEG is advantageous
  • Strong understanding of German and EU permitting frameworks related to energy infrastructure
  • Fluent German (C1) and strong English skills
  • University degree (Master or equivalent) in Engineering, Environmental Planning, Infrastructure Planning, Energy Systems or related discipline
  • Proactive and dynamic attitude
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills
  • Permitting and regulatory coordination in Germany
  • Regulatory documentation and environmental assessments
  • Project scheduling and milestone tracking
