You will be:

designing, developing, and enhancing backend services using Scala,
optimizing the performance, scalability, and reliability of large-scale applications,
investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues affecting production systems,
collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify bottlenecks and implement effective solutions,
contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering practices and code quality,
supporting knowledge sharing and mentoring less experienced engineers.

Your profile:

5+ years of commercial experience in Scala backend development,
strong experience building and maintaining scalable backend applications,
solid background in system performance tuning and optimization,
practical experience using AI-powered assistants (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to improve productivity, quality, or decision-making in software delivery,
ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues,
strong understanding of backend engineering best practices and software design principles,
proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement,
strong collaboration and communication skills,
good command of English (min. B2).

Work from the European Union region and a work permit are required.

Nice to have:

Experience applying GenAI in a more structured way within the SDLC, including defined workflows, prompt patterns, or tool integrations embedded into daily work.

Interest in and familiarity with emerging AI-driven practices (e.g. agent-based workflows, automation patterns, AI-augmented development), with a willingness to explore and experiment beyond standard approaches.
