Senior Software Engineer (m/f/d) – MES

Key responsibilities

• In this position, you will develop innovative software solutions in the MES domain and significantly drive the technical evolution of our products.
• As an experienced software developer, you will design architectures, implement complex functionalities, and ensure the highest software quality through clean code and modern development practices.
• In addition to software development, you will assume technical leadership in MES projects, coordinate development teams, and take responsibility for the successful delivery of technical solutions.
• You will contribute to the Energy Industries Division within the Automation business area in Mannheim.
• You will be mainly accountable for: End-to-end development and configuration of MES solutions using C++, C#, TypeScript, and React across the entire lifecycle – from requirements analysis and architecture through implementation to commissioning.
• Design and implementation of scalable and maintainable software architectures applying Clean Architecture principles and established best practices.
• Full-stack development of backend services, database solutions based on SQL Server and Entity Framework, as well as modern, high-performance frontend applications.
• Implementation of DevOps and quality assurance measures by establishing CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, automated testing, code reviews, and compliance with cybersecurity standards.
• Assumption of technical project responsibility through the management of development packages, well-founded architectural decisions, and technical coordination within interdisciplinary project teams.
• Conducting and facilitating technical workshops with customers and project teams to analyze complex requirements and develop viable solution approaches.
• Technical consultation for customers in the selection, customization, configuration, and integration of customer-specific solutions into existing MES systems.
• Development of sustainable solutions with the right balance between innovation, standardization, and reusability.
• Purposeful use of modern AI-powered tools to enhance quality and efficiency, including critical evaluation of results and autonomous decision-making.

Qualifications for the role

• Several years of experience in professional software development and/or software engineering with demonstrable project successes.
• A degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable engineering discipline is an advantage but not a prerequisite, provided relevant professional experience is in place.
• Excellent programming skills in C++ and C#, along with solid experience in object-oriented software development.
• Experience in the technical delivery of complex MES projects and in collaboration with customers and interdisciplinary teams.
• Expertise in TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks (React or comparable).
• Practical experience with Azure DevOps, Entity Framework, SQL Server, Node-RED, and Clean Architecture.
• Sound knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, and clean code principles.
• Broad technical understanding, strong analytical skills, and the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new technologies, processes, and complex domain-specific contexts.
• Structured working approach and experience in planning, technical documentation, and sustainable solution development.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills, along with experience in conducting technical workshops.
• Fluent German and English language skills, both written and spoken.
• Team-oriented mindset, personal accountability, and a passion for collaboratively analyzing complex technical and domain challenges and delivering sustainable solutions.
