Senior Solutions Engineer – (AI & Start‑Ups)

Digital Native Solutions Engineers at Cloudflare collaborate with the most innovative, cloud‑native startups and high‑growth companies. Your role is a technical partnership that bridges customers’ engineering teams with Cloudflare’s Developer Platform, helping them build their future products and AI capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery for early‑stage cloud‑developer businesses, asking the right questions to uncover how they ship and where Cloudflare fits.
• Engage with clients from the outset of the sales cycle—joining discovery calls, qualifying opportunities, and staying embedded in customer Slack channels and working sessions.
• Identify and map customer initiatives—especially new product development and AI initiatives—to the Cloudflare platform.
• Develop and present tailored technical content and demos for developers and senior technical leadership.
• Lead demo and proof‑of‑concept activities, guiding prospects and customers through the Cloudflare ecosystem.
• Evangelize the full breadth of the Cloudflare Developer Platform, making the case for building on Cloudflare rather than just using it for storage or CDN.
• Create professional reference architectures, demos, blog posts, and other knowledge‑sharing materials.
• Represent Cloudflare at developer, community, technology, and industry events, sharing thought leadership and expertise.
• Apply deep vertical knowledge or domain expertise, advising on best practices.

Qualifications & Experience

• Prior experience as a Solutions Engineer or other customer‑facing technical role, preferably selling to or working with developer‑led, cloud‑native, or startup organizations.
• Strong technical discovery instincts and the ability to qualify fit early while separating real needs from noise.
• Proficiency in speaking engineers’ language—understanding APIs, platform design, and architecture without needing to write production code.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, able to address both developers and CTOs.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects, driving technical wins, and building champion‑style relationships.
• Collaboration with sales teams from the start of the cycle, including early discovery calls and ongoing customer interactions.
• Background in building or contributing to web applications, with empathy for developer workflows.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a relevant field.
• Availability to travel up to 50% for client meetings, conferences, and internal collaboration.

Desired Knowledge of the Cloudflare Developer Platform

• Deep familiarity with Workers, Durable Objects, Workers AI, R2, KV, D1, Vectorize, Queues, and Pages.
• Experience with serverless/edge application patterns, including RAG, vector databases, and AI inference at the edge.
• Understanding of HTTP technologies (reverse proxy, CDN, Web Application Firewall) and network protocols.
• Knowledge of security fundamentals (DDoS protection, firewalls, TLS, VPN, DLP).
• Exposure to cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure) and scripting or programming (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Golang, BASH).
• Experience with regulatory requirements such as FedRAMP, GDPR, PCI DSS, HIPAA, SOC‑2, ISO/IEC.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts for varied audiences—from systems engineers to CT‑O level stakeholders.
