Senior Specialist AFC Program Management

Mission

As a member of Bitpanda’s Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) team, you will be at the forefront of shaping and strengthening our compliance framework. Your mission is to drive impactful change through strategic project management, process optimisation, and cross‑functional collaboration. By ensuring that Bitpanda’s operations remain compliant, efficient, and scalable, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our continued growth and success across multiple jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• Project/Process Management: Analyse, devise, test, and improve processes to enhance efficiency, compliance, and effectiveness within the AFC compliance framework; support the implementation of process improvements and best practices; drive AFC compliance project initiatives by defining objectives, timelines, and ensuring successful execution and delivery.
• Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues, monitor project progress, maintain effective communication with stakeholders by providing regular updates, and ensure alignment with business objectives and compliance requirements through comprehensive documentation.
• Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with Product, Engineering, Hyperautomation, Operations, Risk Management and Legal departments on various projects to ensure a coordinated approach to Financial Crime Compliance at Bitpanda with effective risk mitigation measures and robust processes in place; communicate effectively with senior management by providing regular updates on compliance activities and issues.
• Quality Controls: Define, revise and conduct regular quality control checks to ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures, identify areas for improvement, provide recommendations to enhance compliance and operational efficiency, and ensure that quality control findings are documented and addressed promptly.
• Policy Development and Maintenance: Assist in the development, review, and update of AML/CFT policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance, while ensuring their effective communication and implementation across the organisation.
• Reporting & Stakeholder Updates: Maintain clear and structured reporting to relevant stakeholders on workload, progress against objectives, and blockers; prepare dashboards, summaries, or ad‑hoc reports to provide visibility on ongoing initiatives, highlight risks, track resource utilisation, and ensure senior management can make informed, timely decisions.

Qualifications

• Educational & Legal Acumen: Degree in Law, Finance, Economics, or a related field with a strong legal foundation to navigate and interpret complex regulatory frameworks.
• Compliance Expertise: Practical experience from compliance roles in the crypto, banking, or fintech sectors; solid grasp of AML regulations (e.g., FM‑GwG) and ability to translate evolving regulatory requirements into robust, scalable operational processes.
• Language Proficiency: Excellent written and verbal English skills; proficiency in German or additional European languages (e.g., French, Italian, Spanish) is an advantage.
• Analytical & Process‑Driven: Critical thinking, structured approach, mapping and optimising processes; translate data insights into risk indicators and operational improvements; experience with Snowflake SQL, Tableau, Metabase, or similar tools is a strong advantage.
• Project & Programme Management: Ownership of projects and initiatives, managing multiple priorities efficiently while delivering high‑quality results; coordinate cross‑functional teams, proactively address blockers with a strong solution‑oriented approach, monitor progress, and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
