Senior Staff Product Definition Engineer Ethernet PHY

As a Senior Staff Product Definition Engineer, you lead the definition and roadmap of Renesas’ next-generation Ethernet PHY portfolio for industrial, robotics, and automotive applications. You act as the technical bridge among customers, product management, marketing, architecture, and R&D to translate market needs into differentiated semiconductor products. You influence strategy, shape roadmaps, lead customer engagements, and guide multi-generation Ethernet networking solutions. • Shape and guide product development from concept through market introduction
• Own and influence product roadmap development and portfolio planning across multiple product generations
• Lead CRS collection and prioritization, translating into PRS with R&D
• Represent the company at customer workshops, industry forums, and technical conferences
• Drive alignment across Marketing, Applications, Design, Systems Engineering, PM, Quality, and Operations
• Lead competitive analysis, market assessment, and technology benchmarking
• Drive technical evaluations and trade-off analyses across architecture, performance, cost, reliability, safety, security, and scalability
• Provide technical leadership during product introduction, customer qualification, design-in, and launch activities

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Communications Engineering, or related technical discipline
• Typically 12+ years of relevant industry experience in product definition, systems engineering, technical marketing, application engineering, or product management within semiconductors
• Deep knowledge of Ethernet networking standards, protocols, and architectures (IEEE 802.3, SPE, TSN, MACsec, Ethernet PHYs)
• System modeling experience using Matlab/Simulink or comparable tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to evaluate complex technical and business trade-offs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to influence diverse stakeholders and cross-functional teams globally
