Senior Staff Software Engineer, Money Group

Stellenbeschreibung:

Role overview

A senior engineering leadership role serving as Technical Lead across multiple pods within a fast-growing Money Group at a company building a financial operating system for small businesses. The position combines strategic vision with hands-on execution, shaping architecture for systems that power consumer and business financial health—including accounts, money movement, lending, and expense controls—while guiding a group of roughly 15–20 engineers. Work spans prototyping new product lines, extracting services from an existing monolith, vetting external partners, and mentoring teammates.

Responsibilities

  • Drive architectural direction across a group of 15–20 engineers and lead multi-quarter technical initiatives spanning several pods.
  • Prototype new product lines to unblock product decisions and move work quickly from prototype to production.
  • Vet external partners and integrations that support new financial capabilities.
  • Extract services from the monolith into independently scalable components.
  • Mentor engineers, set the technical bar through code quality, design rigor, testing, and security practices.
  • Own team-level OKRs and contribute to the group's technical strategy; communicate tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Deep, hands-on experience building financial infrastructure in a regulated environment (account/balance management, money movement, card systems, or lending).
  • Proven track record engineering, scaling, and operating large interconnected production systems.
  • Experience contributing to technical vision and driving multi-quarter architectural initiatives across multiple teams.
  • Ability to bring clarity to complex problems, surface risks early, and explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical audiences.
  • Comfort with AI-assisted development tools and a habit of staying current with emerging engineering approaches.
  • Thrives in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift and new product areas are being stood up.

Nice to have

  • Experience moving quickly from prototype to production in early-stage product areas.

Benefits and work setup

  • Competitive base pay plus benefits and equity (RSUs).
  • Targeted cash compensation of $189,000–$236,000 in Denver and most remote locations; $223,000–$278,000 in San Francisco, Seattle, and New York, with stock equity in addition. Final offer varies by experience and location.
  • Hybrid work expected approximately 2–3 days per week in office for those based in Denver, San Francisco, or New York; remote workers need a secure, reliable internet connection on home days.
