Senior Technical Designer (m/f/d)

We are looking for a Senior Technical Designer for our Research & Development team at our Head Office in Cologne. In this role you support the design and development of all the future RIMOWA products. The senior technical designer manages the project for major materials and components development: style, technical design, cost, homologation, project schedule and budget management.

Job Responsibilities

• Design product architecture proposals in partnership with project managers
• Create and validate component definition files and design justification files
• Define component development schedule and budget in compliance with project objectives
• Manage the Request For Proposal process with Purchasing and suppliers
• Realize the Make or Buy study with Purchasing and Engineering teams
• Manage with Quality the homologation process for materials and components
• Manage task forces for problem solving with departments and suppliers involved
• Monitor component project communication with Project Manager, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality and suppliers

Profile

• Engineering Degree and at least 10 years of experience in mechanical design
• Experience in consumer goods technical design: automotive, travel, sports, electronic devices
• Expertise in major plastic and metal transformation and decoration processes
• Knowledge of composites, foam, textile and leather transformation processes is appreciated
• Effective communication skills in English; German is a plus
• Operational skills in SolidWorks; CAD experience is a plus
• Creative, curious mindset to help develop and drive new concepts
