Overview

NCI Agency is currently seeking a Senior Technician (Information Systems AirC2) to work within our CIS Support Unit in Uedem, Germany. We are looking for someone with a background in Systems Administration of complex computer systems, who can demonstrate knowledge of AirC2 Systems. It is also desirable that you have excellent communication and a flexible approach.

Role Responsibilities

This position is within the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA), an organization of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The NCIA delivers capability and service provision related to Consultation, Command & Control as well as Communications, Information and Cyber Defence, enabling integration of Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, Target Acquisition functions and their information exchange.

NCI Agency CIS Support Unit (CSU) Uedem enables end-to-end CIS services by installing, operating, maintaining and supporting the full range of CIS capabilities during peacetime, crisis and war within its Area of Responsibility (AOR) and as directed. The Service Operations Branch (SOB) provides local support to CIS services in accordance with SLAs and other agreements. Under coordination of the NCI Agency OPS Center, SOB directs, coordinates, supervises and executes local Service Operation activities in support of all Service Lines. SOB provides local Level 1 and 2 support, coordinates with Ops Centre and/or service lines, and contributes to Continual Service Improvement and KPI reporting. SOB is responsible for installation, operation, maintenance and administration of assigned IT, Network, Cable, VTC, Voice and Video equipment, as well as OS, core and application software. It ensures physical and cyber security activities are performed as delegated by Cyber Security SL. It coordinates real-life support with the local hosting HQ. SOB contributes to Problem, Access, Event, Request Fulfilment, Release and Deployment, Test and Validation, Configuration and Change Management in support of Service Lines and Service Management Branch. SOB provides limited support to corporate customers within the CSU AOR and supports development and continual improvement of configuration, problem, change and release management processes. The branch executes and contributes to Level 1 support of Incident Management and Request Fulfilment, and installs local software in support of release and deployment management in DAS, ensuring KPIs are met and reporting to Service Lines and Service Management Branch.

Under the direction of the Branch Head Service Operations NSV VSO 0010, the successful candidate will perform duties including:

  • Installs, operates and maintains assigned CORE Systems software, Databases and other Applications and ICT Platforms (IS) and stays abreast of latest developments in these areas.
  • Supports applications and data integrity of assigned ICT Platforms (IS); supports IT Service Continuity Management (ITSCM), Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans.
  • Maintains liaison with other CSU internal units, Service Lines and other technical organisations.
  • Provides support related to local CIS Service provision during the execution phase.
  • Documents the design and configuration of assigned applications and ICT Platforms (IS) and the required operating procedures.
  • Implements procedures, tools and techniques for monitoring and managing the performance of applications and ICT Platforms (IS) and provides reports as required.
  • Monitors and reports on the capacity of the assigned applications and ICT Platforms (IS).
  • Assists with and implements assigned project work packages.
  • May participate in 24/7 duties if required.
  • May perform any other duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications Required
Vocational training at a higher administrative level in a relevant discipline or equivalent.

Experience Required

  • At least 5 years’ experience within the area of Systems Administration of complex computer systems.
  • Knowledge of AirC2 systems.

Assets

It will be considered an asset if you have:

  • Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements.
  • Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization, including ACO and ACT.
  • Knowledge of ACCS

Language Skills

Most work is conducted in English, both written and spoken; some knowledge of French is desirable.

Travel

Business travel to NATO and national facilities as well as frequent travel between NCI Agency offices. May be required to undertake duty travel to operational theatres inside and outside NATO boundaries.
