Senior UX Researcher (m/f/d)

Overview

Maxon is a leading developer of 2D and 3D visual effects, motion graphics, and design software. We are looking for a senior UX Researcher to shape the product strategy and improve our tools for filmmakers, editors, motion designers, and visual effect artists.

Responsibilities

• Own the research strategy for Cinema4D across the entire product lifecycle and on multiple platforms, selecting methods such as usability tests, contextual inquiries, diary studies, and surveys.
• Serve as the internal authority on professional artists’ workflows and interactions with complex 3D tools.
• Translate research insights into clear direction for designers and product managers, delivering findings in compelling formats that influence go/no‑go decisions on major features.
• Identify gaps in the research process and drive improvements.
• Mentor other researchers and elevate the overall research capability of the team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of UX research experience on complex or technical software products.
• Deep expertise in qualitative and quantitative methods, with judicious method selection.
• Proven track record of turning ambiguous findings into product decisions at senior leadership level.
• Familiarity with 3D design, motion graphics, or VFX workflows, either as a researcher, practitioner, or passionate observer.
• Strong cross‑functional instincts and experience collaborating with design, engineering, and product teams.
• Excellent communication skills in English (German a plus).

Preferred Skills

• Hands‑on research experience with Cinema4D, Blender, Houdini, Maya, or similar tools.
• Experience building or maturing a research practice within a design organization.
