Senior/Principal Research Engineer - Ethernet PHY & High-Speed Interconnect Research(m/f/d)

Overview

In this research-driven role, you will develop advanced models of PHY components and systems to predict real-world impairments and guide architecture. You will explore novel signal processing and compensation techniques, quantify dominant impairments, and propose system- and block-level solutions. You will collaborate with international teams and contribute to standards discussions, influencing future Ethernet solutions and high‑speed interconnects. This position offers opportunities to shape technology directions and work at the intersection of research, innovation and real-world impact.

Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Develop behavioral and nonlinear models of PHY components to capture real-world impairments
  • Evaluate novel signal processing and compensation techniques based on realistic behavior
  • Identify dominant impairments and quantify their impact under operating conditions
  • Propose architecture- and block-level solutions to address performance bottlenecks
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align network innovations with hardware development
  • Support system architecture and standards discussions with data-driven analysis of PHY behavior
  • Contribute to technical positions and industry standards (IEEE and UEC)
  • Publish findings and collaborate with universities and research institutes
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • Master's degree and/or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline
  • Strong background in signal processing, nonlinear systems and system modelling
  • Experience with high-speed communication systems, Ethernet PHY and/or SerDes technologies
  • Experience developing behavioral or system-level models using Python, MATLAB or similar environments
  • Ability to analyze complex technical challenges and translate insights into architectural recommendations
  • Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken)
