Job Description
We are the Joint Data Center of the German Pension Insurance (DRV) with locations in Berlin and Würzburg. We ensure the secure and high-performance operation of the infrastructure, compliance with relevant legal standards, cost predictability, cost-effectiveness, and IT consulting. Our Data Center (RZ-DRV) is the nationwide service provider for the DRV’s IT infrastructure and supports its clients with customized IT solutions in the areas of operating system and database infrastructure, ranging from consulting to IT operations. Our Platform Virtualization team designs and operates the VMware infrastructure of the Joint Data Center, as well as the VMware environments in Berlin and Würzburg.

Your Responsibilities
- You will contribute to the development of standards and guidelines for the DRV federal IT
- You will create IT-specific analyses, develop and implement concepts and IT systems, and coordinate, plan, and execute IT processes
- You will monitor and manage IT processes and assist with problem analysis and troubleshooting
- You perform security-compliant updates of IT systems
- You process and coordinate incoming incidents, changes, and issues via our ticketing tools (Remedy, ITMS)
- You create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles in the ticketing tool
- You assist external service providers with work in the data center while adhering to security guidelines
- You will collaborate with colleagues and departments across locations
As part of the tasks described above, you will participate in on-call duties (alerts via phone, SMS, messaging) and, if necessary, scheduled weekend shifts. Due to the cross-location nature of the work, regular, plannable business trips (2–5 times a year) between our Berlin and Würzburg locations are required.
Your Profile
- You have a college degree (bachelor’s, diploma) in IT or an equivalent qualification, such as an IT-specific certification, completed vocational training in IT, or comparable practical experience in the IT field
- You have several years of relevant professional experience in the IT field, particularly in first-level support and ideally also in second-level support
- You work independently, in a structured and solution-oriented manner—while always keeping service quality in mind
- You have a very good understanding of how ticket tools, ticket flows, and knowledge bases work
- Knowledge of, or ideally certification in, ITIL v3 rounds out your profile
- Your German language skills are at the B2 level; we would be happy to support you in further developing your language skills in the future
- You are a true team player and enjoy proactively contributing to project work
- You are willing to participate in occasional on-call duty, as well as to take occasional business trips, as described in the job description
- As part of your onboarding, you will primarily be required to be present on-site at our Berlin location
