Role

Welcome to work as a social counselor in the Social Work and Guidance team 1 of the Disability Services at the Southwest Finland Wellbeing Services County. We are seeking a social counselor for a permanent position. Start date as soon as possible, flexible according to agreement.

Location and Working Conditions

The workplace is initially located in Masku, but the area of work covers the entire team 1 region. The role offers a diverse, independent, and mobile job. Partial remote work and flexible working hours support work-life balance.

Team

Team 1 consists of 12 municipalities: Naantali, Raisio, Rusko, Masku, Nousiainen, Mynämäki, Vehmaa, Kustavi, Taivassalo, Laitila, Pyhäranta, and Uusikaupunki. The team includes a lead social worker, 4 social workers, 9 social counselors, and 3 secretaries. The service area is led by a disability services manager, and the entire disability services at the wellbeing area are coordinated and led by a disability services director.

Responsibilities

Assessing the service needs of disability clients
Preparing client plans
Making decisions regarding clients’ service applications
Providing guidance and advice to clients
Preparing statements and reports
Participation in weekly team meetings and supervision
Engaging in multidisciplinary collaboration with other actors in the results area and paired work within the team

Professional Requirements

Suitable higher education degree in social services (social worker, gerontologist, rehabilitation counselor) according to the Social Welfare Professionals Act 817/2015 (Section8)
Registration with Valvira’s professional register
Experience in disability services is considered an advantage
Good Finnish oral and written skills
Satisfactory Swedish skills

Benefits & Support

We offer good and developing structures at the Southwest Finland wellbeing area, where you can also influence. Planned orientation and strong support from the immediate supervisor and team. Partial remote work is possible, and work tools are functional. Employment terms are governed by the SOTE agreement. The working hours for social counselors are generally 38.25 hours per week. A six-month probation period applies.
