About the Role
This role is part of Landscape, Canonical’s premier management tool for managing Ubultra fleets. As a Landscape software engineer you will develop, ship, and maintain new features, fix bugs, and modernise the SaaS‑based codebase while ensuring high‑quality, automated testing.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate proactively with a distributed team.
- Write high‑quality code to introduce new features, fix bugs, and modernise the Landscape codebase.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to code quality and automated testing.
- Participate in engineering processes with code and architectural reviews.
- Take personal ownership of problems and design and deliver solutions.
- Work remotely and travel globally 2–4 weeks per year for internal and external events.
- Assist with release management during each development cycle.
- Collaborate with DevOps for Landscape SaaS, Canonical’s hosted Landscape service.
Qualifications
- Strong passion for technology and a desire to work with brilliant people.
- Curiosity, flexibility, articulate communication, and accountability.
- Soft‑skill oriented, enterprising, thoughtful, and self‑motivated.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM or a related field.
- Proficiency developing public‑facing APIs and web applications, ideally with Python.
- Experience with Python web frameworks such as Flask or Django.
- Experience with databases and ORMs (PostgreSQL a plus).
- Comfortable using Ubuntu as both aahir development and deployment platform.
