Join the Amazon Linux Team in Dresden, Germany to build the future of Linux at Amazon. Amazon Linux is AWS’s flagship Linux distribution, and this role requires you to lead a team of skilled engineers to design, develop, test, and operate services and components for Amazon Linux while collaborating closely with product managers and other stakeholders to drive new features and maintain a high‑quality, secure platform.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of 9+ engineers, driving project execution and ensuring timely delivery of commitments.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and cross‑functional stakeholders to shape the product roadmap and strategically prioritize development initiatives.
• Drive the development and enhancement of Amazon Linux, focusing on maintaining high quality, reliability, and scalability.
• Foster cross‑team collaboration to resolve complex technical challenges and align the product and services with customer needs.
• Hire and develop your team; delivering through others is your primary responsibility.
• Manage the team’s performance and provide guidance and mentorship to team members.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience with Linux.
• Experience hiring, developing, and managing high‑performing technical teams.
• Experience leading or developing high quality, enterprise‑scale software products using a structured system development lifecycle.
• Experience delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
• Experience working with end‑user or developer communities.
• Experience delivering products against plan in a fast‑paced, multi‑disciplined, distributed‑responsibility, and often ambiguous environment.
