Software Engineer - Airborne Mission Systems

In this role you contribute to Helsing's UCAV program by building the high-level mission control and infrastructure for real-time sensor processing, secure comms, and integration with flight systems. You work on robust, safety-critical software that operates across diverse environments, helping the CA-1 Europa fly and perform. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to push practical, state-of-the-art solutions while upholding ethical considerations. • Review code contributions, RFCs, and proposals to ensure safety and performance for airborne applications
• Propose and implement new features, infrastructure, or even full products across the stack to improve reliability of airborne mission systems
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to the interviewing pipeline
• Share knowledge through tech talks and learning groups
• Maintain and improve the existing Rust/Python stack and address technical debt
• Develop tests and benchmarks, including hardware-in-the-loop simulations and flight testing
• Present work at weekly demos to align and celebrate progress

• Legible, maintainable, and performant code
• Strong English communication (verbal and written)

• Comfort with asynchronous work (PRs, RFCs, email discussions)
• Strong backend or embedded development experience in Rust, Go, or C++
