Software Engineer - Autonomous Air Systems

In this role you will integrate state-of-the-art reinforcement learning into our autonomous aerial platform, the CA-1 Europa, contributing to end-to-end decision-making in flight. You will work at the crossroads of ML and systems engineering to ensure reliable, low-latency operation in high-stakes environments. The role blends software maintenance, feature development, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to advance the Centaur project. • Maintain and improve the existing Rust/Python stack, coordinating with customers to resolve reliability issues
• Develop tests and benchmarks, including hardware-in-the-loop simulations and flight tests
• Review contributions and RFCs to ensure safety and performance for airborne applications
• Propose and implement new features, algorithms, or infrastructure across the stack
• Mentor teammates and contribute to interviewing and knowledge sharing
• Share expertise via tech talks and internal learning sessions

• Legible, maintainable, and performant code
• Strong English communication, both written and spoken
• Experience in backend or embedded development, with Rust, Go, or C++
• Comfort with Python in ML-heavy sections
• Collaborative work style, code reviews, pair programming
• Ability to work asynchronously with PRs and RFCs
