Software Engineer - Network Platforms

About the team

The Network Platforms team contributes to Traffic Management functions at Cloudflare. One of multiple teams responsible for systems that optimize the flow of traffic into, through, and from Cloudflare's global network.

You will build and extend systems that carry traffic end‑to‑end on the egress path of Cloudflare's network, working from the host server Linux kernel through to the physical interconnect to an adjacent network. The work directly impacts millions of customers and shapes the future of reliability and performance on the Internet.

What you’ll do

You will design, implement, and operate low‑level network technology and protocol code, collaborate across teams, and participate in our on‑call rotation.

What we are looking for

Smart, innovative team players who have experience with Linux kernel network stack development (especially eBPF), complex distributed systems, and internet protocols. Candidates should thrive in a fast‑paced environment, be comfortable stepping outside their comfort zone, and lead with curiosity and empathy.

Role requirements

• Systems‑level programming experience in Go, Python, Rust, C, or C++
• Solid grasp of BGP and internet routing
• Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies
• Experience in implementing, deploying, and debugging mission‑critical distributed systems
• Strong collaboration and communication skills

Bonus Points

• Familiarity with vendor switching SDKs
• Knowledge of SR‑MPLS, sFlow, BGP‑LS & PCE protocols
• Experience writing packet‑processing software (e.g., eBPF at TC or XDP, DPDK)
• Experience participating in an on‑call rotation
