Solar Technician

Job Description Summary

All resources and logistics required to perform services and maintenance activities on customers' site/property. These activities contribute to, maintain, repair and refurbish sold or existing products. Includes all types of maintenance service (preventive and remedial), manage maintenance facilities and field services engineering. Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

• Perform field service to ensure 99% uptime
• Diagnose and repair faulted inverters
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electromechanical issues
• Conduct annual periodic maintenance inspections
• Keep maintenance records of findings
• Assist in developing maintenance programs
• Perform start-up and commissioning for new PV inverter installations
• Inspect physical installation (wiring, connections, mechanical condition)
• Power up, set all required parameters, and ensure proper operation
• Monitor performance and efficiency levels
• Maintain high customer satisfaction by providing excellent customer service
• Provide accurate and timely product service reports

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 2 years industry work experience with inverters

Travel Qualifications:

• Ability and willingness to travel to and from customer locations – 90% to 100%

Desired Characteristics:

• 2-year technical degree and/or equivalent certification
• Great interpersonal, oral, and written skills
• Analytical and quantitative skills
• Solar industry service experience preferred (not required)
• Customer oriented with professional demeanor
• Knowledge of power electronics and controls
• Knowledge of Modbus serial and Ethernet communications

Compensation: $1,346 to $1,730 weekly. Overtime and performance bonus eligible.
