Overview

In this role you will join client teams in the steel and metals sector to drive operational improvements and shape client strategy. You will contribute to McKinsey’s renowned advisory in the iron-steel value chain, manage analyses, and support knowledge-building initiatives and client workshops. You will receive strong coaching and mentorship to accelerate leadership development, working across multiple European offices. This opportunity combines deep technical expertise with strategic problem-solving in a global, high-performance environment.

Verantwortungsbereiche

Be part of client teams to improve operational performance in steel/metals sectors
Lead or contribute to problem-solving, hypothesis formation, analyses, and synthesis into recommendations
Participate in or lead internal knowledge-building initiatives, conferences, and client workshops
Engage in ongoing training, coaching, and mentoring from colleagues and senior leaders
Collaborate with teams across offices on global client engagements
Support development of strategies and transformations across the value chain

Zentrale Anforderungen

Bachelor's or master's degree in STEM-related discipline; advanced degree preferred
3+ years of experience in steel operations or steel-related applied research with field experience in metallurgical production
Excellent knowledge of contemporary technologies of steel and steel product making
Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of Access or statistical/database experience a plus
Fluent/native German and English; ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
Proven leadership in a work setting or through extracurricular activities
Ability to work collaboratively in a team and with all organizational levels
Willingness to travel frequently
Comfort presenting to small groups
Strong analytics attitude
