We are hiring a Specialist Tax (m/w/d) for our office in Duisburg

This role is part of the HAVI VAT and Income tax function ensuring tax compliance for all tax activities in the scope of the German tax department. It includes fulfilling the legal requirements regarding all kinds of VAT obligations for different companies as well as group-wide VAT advice to support our business strategy. If required, it includes support of the tax team by taking over other tasks.

Responsibilities

VAT (Main Activity)

• Creation, submission and administration of (preliminary, annual) VAT returns, EC Sales Lists and other VAT related reporting for all countries of registration of different entities including preparation of data material, compliance checks, troubleshooting, monitoring of postings and supporting documentation plus coordination and review of incorrect postings and VAT corrections
• Reconciliation of VAT accounts for monthly and financial statements for entities in scope
• Further harmonize group-wide usage of VAT reporting tool AVALARA for all countries in responsibility of Tax Department and increase level of digitalization level into additional countries and/or BU´s
• Contact person for VAT questions for certain business areas
• Standardization and stabilization of VAT processes to reduce manual intervention, minimize sources of error, and efficiently implement legal changes in systems and tools
• Preparation of input VAT refund applications to foreign tax authorities (input VAT refund procedure) and coordination with service provider for refund process

Tax audits (Support)

• Supporting of tax and other audits, in the scope of the German tax department, related to VAT

Other

• Support of the tax team by taking over other tasks if required

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience in Tax/VAT compliance from an international environment, ideally within a global industrial group or consulting company
• Good knowledge of German and European VAT regulations
• Preferable a certificate in Tax such as a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification
• Good experience in the preparation of VAT filings and a good knowledge of finance
• Preferable MS Office, JDE, SAP R/3 expertise
• Ability to understand business processes with tax/VAT relevance and capacity to explain complex VAT issues clearly to internal business partners
• Credible & confident
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Organizational and time management skills
• Good technical knowledge plus affinity for technology
• Fluent in English, ideally complemented by German and an additional European language
