Description

We are seeking a driven Sr. Epitaxy Engineer to develop epitaxial crystal wafers for the next generation of microLEDs. In this role, you will design new epitaxial structures, oversee the growth of these epitaxial crystals, characterize the epitaxial structures, and review the performance of microLEDs fabricated from these epitaxial structures. Essential to this role will be close collaboration with the process integration, characterization, and product development teams to ensure that epitaxy research is aligned with Inlighten’s product needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design GaN on Si epitaxial structures to optimize microLED performance for blue, green, and red emission
  • Develop MOCVD growth conditions that allow for the desired epitaxial properties (e.g., doping profile, strain, layer thickness) to be achieved
  • Own DOEs and root cause analysis to optimize MOCVD growth for high yield and microLED performance
  • Collaborate with device architecture, process, and metrology teams to support product development
  • Own end‑to‑end MOCVD process development from R&D concept through scale‑up to high‑volume manufacturing, including process control, specifications, and product performance

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of hands‑on experience in GaN epitaxy including epitaxial design, MOCVD growth, and characterization
  • Demonstrated knowledge of optoelectronic test data such as electroluminescence, LIV, and EQE measurements.
  • Understanding of LED wafer processing as it relates to the epitaxial wafer
  • Strong communication skills. Ability to summarize findings into clear, actionable reports for cross‑functional teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally to collaborate with foundry partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant field of study.
  • Proven track record in GaN epitaxy for LEDs or microLEDs
  • Experience designing and executing on data‑driven DOEs to solve technical challenges
  • Knowledgeable of the capabilities of MOCVD reactors from major vendors
