Senior Account Executive (SAE) covers a territory in and around Augusta, GA. Hybrid position with occasional visits to local office, requiring residence in the territory.

Combo hunter/farmer: responsible for new business and retention of existing accounts. Preferred candidate is an aggressive hunter who loves cold calling and prospecting.

Job Summary

Responsible for prospecting and closing sales to new customers to achieve budgeted sales goals. Develop and implement selling strategies to ensure revenue growth at target or greater profitability levels. Manage existing relationships to achieve sales and price goals, preserve business through strong negotiation, and secure contract agreements for non‑contracted customers.

Handle all customer cancellation requests, provide ongoing education of contract details, and obtain contract commitments during face‑to‑face interactions. Resolve all escalations for customer service within the defined territory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and grow billable value in assigned accounts; prevent account losses and grow billable value by selling permanent new waste streams, new services, and new products.
  • Initiate business‑to‑business sales relationships.
  • Prospect and close sales opportunities to achieve budgeted sales goals.
  • Manage prospects with development plans and maintain key information in prospect database; maintain sales pipeline to achieve new sales goals.
  • Minimize revenue losses by maintaining SSDO relationship health standards and diffusing cancellation requests. Meet or exceed sales call activity goals for proactive account retention.
  • Increase revenue and profitability by executing plans on retention calls to improve customers’ service and/or profitability.
  • Establish and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Propose compliant customer solutions and collaborate with Area Sales Managers to resolve unique customer issues.
  • Communicate pricing and service strategies; proactively engage other WM business opportunities and refer internally as appropriate.
  • Acquire in‑depth industry and company knowledge to prepare complex proposals and recommend equipment optimization and leasing options.
  • Maintain current knowledge of internal sales strategies, operational capabilities, and external market trends.
  • Work closely with Plant Managers and Brokerage Account Managers to upgrade materials to increase profitability and achieve plant goals.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; or High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of relative work experience. 4 years of direct B2B sales, cold calling, and phone‑based prospecting experience required. Preferred: recent experience with Salesforce.com.

Physical Requirements

  • Office setting, work from home, and outside sales. Routine use of computers, phones, and copy machines.
