We are seeking a Sr. Staff Software Engineer to join the Pinterest Assistant team, where you will lead the technical vision and architecture for a scalable, AI-powered platform that enhances user experiences across shopping, search, and discovery. You will drive foundational investments in orchestration, memory, personalization, APIs, and infrastructure, while collaborating closely with product, design, frontend, ML, and infrastructure teams to shape the future of conversational AI. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of backend engineering experience, including leading large-scale systems, and 3+ years as a technical lead. Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, Node, or similar languages is required, along with strong expertise in model-driven systems and collaboration with machine learning engineers. Experience with conversational AI, retrieval, ranking, or multimodal systems is a plus. This role requires in-office presence once per quarter and is based in the U.S., with a salary range of $208,592–$429,454 USD.
