Staff Engineer AMS Implementation (f/m/div)

As Staff Engineer AMS Implementation you will shape the automated AMS layout design for analog ICs and power devices within Infineon’s R&D family. You will collaborate with an international team to develop and optimize geometry, constraint-programming models, and parallel compute strategies that scale on Linux clusters. You will drive testing, quality practices, and continuous improvement of software modules while influencing the future of AMS-EDA capabilities. This is a mission to advance cutting-edge design automation at scale.

• Develop software and algorithms for automated physical design of analog ICs, power devices, and CCDs
• Build and optimize spatial indexing and graph engines for constraints like symmetry and alignment
• Model AMS layout rules with constraint programming using Gecode or OR-Tools CP-SAT; create custom propagators and diagnostics
• Parallelize compute-intensive kernels with OpenMP; optimize memory and validate scalability on Linux/LSF clusters
• Establish testing and quality practices for geometry kernels and CP models; implement unit tests and fuzzing
• Refactor and maintain existing modules; collaborate with international analog design automation team

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or similar; PhD strongly preferred
• 3–5 years of algorithm development experience in AMS-EDA, especially computational geometry for analog layout synthesis
• Experience with constraint programming and solver tools (Gecode, OR-Tools CP-SAT)
• CPU-only parallel algorithms in modern C++ (C++17/20) and OpenMP
• Deep knowledge of spatial and graph data structures (sweep-line, interval/segment trees, R-trees, planar graphs, matching/flow)
• Python GUI programming and Cadence SKILL; familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso (schematic and layout)
• Experience with Unix/Linux, shell scripting, and LSF server farms
• Familiarity with quantum computing, ML/NN/RL; model development in Python/Torch
• Fluent English; German a plus
