Staff Engineer Photonics Engineer (f/m/div)

As a Staff Engineer Photonics Engineer in our Research & Development team, you will drive photonics technology to enable scalable ion-trap chip platforms. You design, fabricate, and characterize photonic circuits, collaborating with partners to push the boundaries of quantum technologies. You will author technical reports and publications and supervise Master and PhD students, contributing to impactful, collaborative research. This role combines deep technical leadership with hands-on development to advance quantum computing and photonics.

• Drive technology development of photonics for scaling towards very large ion trap chips
• Design, fabricate and characterize photonic circuit chips for a wide range of applications
• Author technical reports and publications in collaboration with internal and external partners
• Supervise Master and PhD students

• PhD in physics, quantum engineering, or electrical engineering
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in photonics, quantum optics and/or ion trapping
• High motivation towards realizing photonics and quantum computing
• Fluent in English communication and presentation; German is a plus
