Staff Java Developer (m/f/d)

In this role you will design, build, and evolve reliable, scalable Java/Spring Boot backend services across multiple product areas, focusing on cloud-native, observable systems. You will stay hands-on, lead cross-team initiatives, and drive delivery from idea to production with a clear business impact. You’ll work with REST/gRPC, event-driven flows, and modern data stores while mentoring engineers and shaping engineering practices. • Design, build, and evolve backend services in Java/Spring Boot across multiple product areas
• Lead cross-team technical initiatives from idea to production
• Work with REST/gRPC, event-driven flows, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, Flyway, and shared libraries
• Improve architecture, observability, performance, security, testing, and developer experience in a cloud-native, Kubernetes-based setup
• Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams; mentor engineers through reviews and knowledge sharing
• Apply AI-assisted tooling to improve quality, speed, and developer experience and define practical engineering practices around it

• Deep experience building backend services with modern Java and Spring Boot at Staff level
• Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures; focus on reliability and maintainability
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL, JPA/Hibernate, Flyway, Redis, Kafka
• Experience owning services in production, improving them via observability, metrics, alerting, CI/CD, and Kubernetes ops
• Comfort with AI-assisted development tools and applying them responsibly
• Collaborative, product-minded attitude; willingness to work across the stack; React/TypeScript plus is a plus
