Staff Operations Engineer

As Staff Operations Engineer you will own and evolve a defined infrastructure domain, guiding scalable, reliable hybrid-cloud and office systems. You’ll lead cross-team initiatives, set technical direction, and ensure security and efficiency while staying hands-on with critical systems. You’ll collaborate with IT, SRE, and Security to unify solutions and improve reliability at scale. • Own and evolve architecture within a defined infrastructure domain
• Design and implement scalable, reliable systems across teams/environments
• Establish and promote best practices, standards within the domain
• Contribute to medium- and long-term technical strategy (6–18 months)
• Lead delivery of high-impact infrastructure projects; break down complex problems; manage migrations/re-architectures; stay hands-on
• Collaborate across IT, SRE, Security, Service Owners to unify solutions
• Ensure cross-infrastructure integration (office, DC, cloud)
• Improve reliability through monitoring, alerting, and design; define SLIs/SLOs and capacity planning
• Lead root cause analysis for incidents; reduce operational toil via automation
• Design and support core infrastructure components (compute, DNS, networking, identity) and drive performance/scalability improvements
• Develop automation and IaC; contribute to internal tooling; promote standardized practices
• Mentor engineers; raise technical quality through reviews; act as domain resource
• Maintain clear runbooks and documentation; support knowledge sharing across teams

• 6+ years in systems engineering or infrastructure roles
• Strong experience designing and operating production infrastructure
• Proficiency in VMware, Cisco UCS, Application/Network Loadbalancers
• Linux/Unix expertise; solid networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, routing, firewalls)
• Experience with data center environments
• Ability to lead complex cross-team technical work
