Staff Product Manager - Payroll Experience

As Staff PM for the Payroll Experience, you will own a major portion of Deel’s client-facing payroll surface. You will define vision, strategy, and metrics, and lead two engineering squads to deliver a scalable, low-touch, high-confidence payroll experience across countries. You’ll challenge the current flow, design global frameworks, and ensure accuracy, compliance, and self-serve capabilities for clients with varying payroll expertise. Your work will directly impact every payroll cycle and client satisfaction, using data and AI to drive fast, high-impact decisions.

• Own the vision, strategy, and metrics for part of the payroll experience across two squads
• Define and defend the strategic direction, iterating based on learning
• Challenge existing payroll processes to reduce manual work and dependency on expertise
• Build global frameworks enabling local experiences via configuration rather than bespoke builds
• Own key metrics (touchless payroll rate, accuracy, submission time, country self-serve coverage, filing success, support load) and build dashboards with early warning systems
• Translate complex payroll flows into clean, well-scoped work for agile teams
• Leverage AI actively in day-to-day work for research, synthesis, data analysis, and decision documents
• Collaborate across clients, payroll operations, compliance, and engineering to balance accuracy, user experience, and velocity

• 6+ years of product management experience, including at Staff PM level or equivalent
• Builder mindset with autonomy and preference for solving loosely-defined problems
• Fast-iterative mentality with data-driven decision making and willingness to ship under uncertainty
• Systems thinker able to connect teams, tools, and processes and consider downstream impacts
• Comfort with high-stakes, detail-heavy domains (payroll) and driving delivery
• Execution-led mindset with clear, concise communication
• Data fluency: SQL, data platforms, spreadsheets, and self-sufficient analysis
• AI-native approach with practical examples of using AI tools in day-to-day work
