Job Summary
Staff Experience Researcher within PayPal’s EMEA Markets team, part of Global Customer Insights. Lead market research across EMEA with a focus on Germany to uncover customer attitudes, competitive dynamics, and trends. Deliver data‑driven insights that inform product roadmaps, go‑to‑market decisions, and leadership priorities.
Responsibilities
- Develop clear plans and priorities to gather insights and make data‑driven decisions.
- Perform complex analysis using specialized product knowledge and advanced business expertise.
- Lead functional projects and programs that enhance user experiences based on research findings.
- Design and implement user testing, surveys, and data analysis methodologies aligned with business needs and industry trends.
- Conduct large‑scale quantitative research (surveys, panels, behavioral data integration) to generate statistically robust insights on customer attitudes, needs, and market trends.
- Translate complex datasets into clear, compelling strategic narratives that drive decision‑making at the product, regional, and executive level.
- Partner with product, strategy, and commercial leadership to align research priorities with regional business goals and shape roadmap decisions.
- Act as the EMEA subject‑matter expert in market research methodology, elevating standards, establishing best practices, and mentoring junior researchers.
- Design and execute strategic market research programs including launch diagnostics, conjoint analysis, concept testing, customer segmentation, and competitive intelligence studies for EMEA/Germany.
Qualifications
- 5+ years relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7+ years of experience in market research, customer insights, or a closely related field with a proven track record of delivering strategic, business‑impacting insights.
- Deep expertise in quantitative market research methodologies: concept tests, conjoint analysis, MaxDiff, discrete choice modeling, segmentation, and advanced survey design.
- Strong analytical skills, including statistical analysis, data interpretation, and integration of primary and secondary data sources (e.g., Qualtrics, SPSS, Python/R, Tableau/Power BI).
- Experience working with EMEA/Germany markets and a strong understanding of regional consumer behavior, regulatory context, and cultural nuances.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and executive communication skills, with the ability to influence cross‑functional and senior decision‑makers.
- English (professional level); German language proficiency (professional level) is a strong plus; additional languages such as French, Italian, or Spanish are desirable.
- Experience presenting to VP‑level stakeholders and managing research agencies and external vendors for large‑scale quantitative programs.
- Familiarity with financial services, payments, or fintech consumer landscapes in EMEA is preferred.
