Requirements

  • We’re looking for an experienced Staff Engineer who combines strong technical depth with a strong product mindset
  • Extensive experience designing and building large-scale backend systems
  • Strong experience working in product-driven engineering environments
  • A track record of driving technical strategy and architectural improvements
  • Experience working with complex domain models and high-accuracy data systems
  • The ability to influence engineering direction across teams
  • Strong hands‑on coding ability alongside technical leadership
  • (Desirable) Experience working on financial, payroll, or compensation systems
  • (Desirable) Experience designing systems where data correctness and accuracy are critical
  • (Desirable) Experience working in large SaaS platforms

  • As a Staff Software Engineer, you will join the Pay Connect group, working within the Money domain. This domain is responsible for how compensation is represented, managed, and processed across Personio
  • Everything from base salary and hourly pay to bonuses, equity, and benefits flows through this part of the platform. The systems built in this area power both Personio’s compensation management features and the data that ultimately feeds into payroll
  • This role will play a key part in evolving how compensation is modeled, scaled, and integrated across the platform as Personio continues to expand into global payroll and new compensation models
  • Lead technical design and architecture within the Money domain
  • Build and evolve systems that manage compensation data across Personio
  • Develop capabilities supporting different compensation types such as salary, bonuses, benefits, and equity
  • Contribute to features within Personio’s Compensation Management product
  • Collaborate closely with product teams to translate complex compensation requirements into scalable systemsl
  • Improve data correctness, reliability, and performance across critical payroll inputs
  • Act as a technical multiplier, helping engineers across the team deliver high-quality systems
  • Contribute hands‑on to the codebase, spending roughly 50% of your time coding
