Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Travel Retail Store Manager to lead the performance and operations of our duty‑free boutique at Munich Airport . This role is responsible for driving commercial success, ensuring operational excellence, delivering a premium customer experience, and leading a high‑performing team in a fast‑paced international travel retail environment.
The ideal candidate brings strong travel retail or airport retail experience , a proven ability to manage high‑traffic retail environments, and the leadership capability to motivate teams while maintaining the highest brand and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Business Performance
- Drive store sales, turnover, and profitability in line with defined KPIs.
- Maximize revenue through effective product assortment, merchandising, upselling, and cross‑selling strategies aligned with passenger profiles.
- Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance and implement corrective action plans when needed.
- Ensure optimal stock levels, sell‑through rates, and inventory rotation within a duty‑free retail environment.
- Collaborate with Travel Retail HQ on commercial initiatives, promotions, and product launches .
Operations & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with airport, customs, duty‑free, and security regulations.
- Oversee daily store operations including opening/closing procedures within airport operational constraints.
- Manage stock control, deliveries, shrinkage prevention, and inventory counts.
- Coordinate with airport authorities, duty‑free operators, and logistics partners.
- Maintain strict adherence to health, safety, and security standards.
Customer Experience
- Deliver a premium customer experience tailored to international travelers.
- Ensure consistent service excellence despite peak passenger traffic and flight schedules.
- Manage customer feedback, claims, and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
- Act as a brand ambassador, ensuring strong product knowledge and brand storytelling across the team.
- Recruit, onboard, train, and develop store team members.
- Build staffing schedules aligned with airport operating hours and passenger traffic patterns.
- Lead, coach, and motivate the team to achieve sales targets and service standards.
- Conduct performance reviews, set objectives, and manage disciplinary matters when required.
- Foster strong team engagement and maintain low staff turnover in a demanding shift‑based environment.
Visual Merchandising & Brand Standards
- Ensure flawless execution of visual merchandising guidelines and planograms.
- Adapt merchandising to store layout, space constraints, and passenger flow within the terminal.
- Maintain high standards of store presentation, cleanliness, and product visibility at all times.
Profile & Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Store Manager in retail.
- Mandatory experience in Travel Retail or airport retail environments.
- Proven ability to manage high‑volume stores in fast‑paced locations.
- Experience working with international clientele and multicultural teams.
- Professional appearance and strong brand representation.
- Strong commercial mindset and KPI‑driven approach.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and adapt to fluctuating passenger flows.
- Strong organizational and operational management capabilities.
- High level of autonomy, reliability, and accountability.
Languages
- Fluent English and German required.
- Additional languages are considered a plus.
Availability & Flexibility
- Full flexibility to work shift schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to adapt to airport operational requirements and peak travel periods.
