European XFEL is an international non-profit company located in the Hamburg area in Germany. It operates a 3.4 km-long X-ray laser, which produces X-rays of unique quality for studies in physics, chemistry, the life sciences, materials research and other disciplines. For our X-Ray Photon Diagnostics group we are looking for a

The Position

• Development of software tools for analysis of measurement data from the photon diagnostic devices.
• Support data analysis with the objective of characterizing the X-ray beam and calculate SASE spectral information based on the acquired data.
• Support group with hardware and cable assembly.
• Active participation in the commissioning and beamtimes with the photon diagnostics group.
• Supporting various development activities in the photon diagnostics lab.

Requirements

• Enrolled in a Bachelor or Master Degree program in physics, computer science, engineering or similar discipline.
• Capable of writing computer programs for data processing and analysis. Experience in Python language.
• Fluent in spoken and written English. German language is not required.
• Strong communication skills and interest in working in a collaborative environment
• Knowledge about analogue electronics and/or micro-controller programming would be an asset.
• Availability to work from European XFEL's offices for most of the working hours.

Compensation & long-term security
