Would you like to become part of our innovation-driven research team and help shape the future of lightweight system? We, the Institute of Lightweight Systems, develop and test new lightweight construction technologies for resource-saving and climate-friendly structures in the aerospace, transport, energy and security sectors. Our vision is intelligent lightweight system construction for an emission-free tomorrow.
You will be working on a forward-looking project in line with the German Federal Government’s Climate Action Plan 2050, which also calls for significant CO₂ reductions in the aviation sector. The focus is on developing hydrogen-based propulsion systems and, in particular, the efficient storage of liquid hydrogen at cryogenic temperatures (-253 °C).
You will contribute to the development of a CFRP tank structure capable of withstanding extreme thermo-mechanical loads while meeting the highest sealing requirements.
Your main task will be to investigate the material behavior of CFRP under cryogenic conditions – including experimental testing. In doing so, you will play an important role in advancing new technologies for the use of CFRP in liquid hydrogen tanks, helping to make aviation more climate-friendly.
We look forward to getting to know you!
